Press Release

Bremen, October 31, 2008 - MeVis Medical Solutions AG [ISIN: DE000A0LBFE4] has today released the latest version of its general diagnostics software as a seamless replacement for earlier versions or for first-time installation. In its third generation, it is again available in Basic, Radiography, Diagnostic, Kinetic and Demonstration versions. Additional options include the support of contrast examinations and three-dimensional imaging.
Distributed by Medos AG (now Nexus / Medos) under the same MD-JADE brand name since 2002, the MD-JADE 3 general diagnostics software covers a wide range of applications for radiography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Among other things, it is characterized by efficient RIS (Radiology Information System) integration and the related support for users in practices and at clinics.
In particular, users appreciate MD-JADE on account of its automatically organized diagnostic workflow system (MeVis ADS). As soon as image data is received, it is automatically classified in each individual case and prepared in accordance with defined specifications. At the same time, radiographer workstations can be integrated in the workflow system on an end-to-end basis. As well as this, MD-JADE allows clinic demonstrations to be prepared simply and on a workflow-optimized basis right from the diagnostic workstation.
With this new release, MeVis Medical Solutions is implementing a new generation in the software architecture deployed in MD-JADE. For the first time, this new version has been developed using the general proprietary MeVisAP™ development platform, which is also being used by MeVis Medical Solutions and its partner research institute MeVis Research for developing other products. This provides the technological basis for integrating disease-oriented applications in general diagnostics software as well in the future. MeVis Medical Solutions is concentrating on the development of such specific software solutions which are increasingly being used in the modern medical imaging technology implemented by leading industrial partners.
As part of ongoing product enhancement efforts, the general diagnostics software now also offers modern hardware-accelerated 3D rendering. This allows radiologists, surgeons and also patients to gain an extremely swift overview of all functions. This function is extremely useful in several respects. For example, it can be used in organ imaging to highlight specific conditions and to render them visible to the patient. With the isolated spatial view, surgeons can assess overlaying structures more effectively in the case of images of the vascular system. Finally, the detailed depiction of bone structures can provide valuable support in reconstruction surgery.
MeVis Medical Solutions is one of the world’s leading independent vendors of software products for image-based medicine, particularly digital radiology. Over the past few years, there has been an enormous increase in the complexity and volume of medical image data derived from digital imaging processes such as computer tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance tomography (MRT). MeVis Medical’s products analyze and process this data in such a way as to provide medical practitioners with crucial information for early detection, diagnosis and intervention in the areas of cancer and lung diseases as well as neurological conditions. The Company develops its disease-oriented software solutions in close consultation with the world’s leading medical experts and original equipment makers in the medical technology sector and primarily markets this software via these partnerships.
