Project Objectives

1) Expedite the uptake of digital mammography and softcopy reading in European screening mammography, and worldwide.

2) Expedite worldwide the commercial uptake of the SCR-system developed and tested in SCREEN (IST-1999-10246).

3) Demonstrate the medical superiority of digital mammography, softcopy reading, and tele-mammography for screening mammography in sparsely populated areas.

4) Demonstrate the medical and economic feasibility of softcopy reading in digital screening mammography.

5) Propose standards and guidelines for digital mammography in European screening mammography programs.

6) Make the SCREEN SCR-system the standard for soft-copy reading in European Screening Mammography
